Frequently asked questions
Answers on choosing, ordering, shipping, and using HDPE ground protection mats. Still have a question? Contact us — we reply within one business day.
What are HDPE ground protection mats?
HDPE ground protection mats are tough, reusable plastic panels laid over soft, wet, or sensitive ground to create a temporary road or working platform. They spread the weight of vehicles, plant, and foot traffic so the surface below is protected from rutting and damage. Made from high-density polyethylene, they are lightweight, rot- and corrosion-proof, non-conductive, and reusable for years.
How much weight can a ground protection mat hold?
It depends on the mat and, critically, the ground beneath it. Standard 1/2 in (12.7 mm) mats suit foot traffic and light vehicles; heavy-duty and bog mats carry loaded trucks, dozers, and tracked excavators. A mat spreads and distributes load — it does not turn soft ground into hard standing — so size to ground bearing pressure (load ÷ contact area). Our spread-load figures range up to ~120 t with point loads up to ~828 psi on the heavy-duty range.
Why choose HDPE over steel plates, plywood, or timber mats?
HDPE mats are roughly 95% lighter than steel, so a two-person crew can lay them by hand with no crane, and they will not rust and are non-conductive. Unlike plywood, they do not soak up water, delaminate, or rot. Unlike timber, they do not splinter and typically deliver 10–15 years of service. For most temporary access, HDPE wins on weight, reusability, safety, and lifecycle cost.
What sizes, thicknesses, and colors are available?
Standard mats are 4×8 ft (1.22×2.44 m) in 1/2 to 3/4 in thickness; large-format bog and roadway panels run up to 7.5×14 ft and 2×4 m, up to 4 in thick. Colors include black (recycled or virgin HDPE), white and bright colors (virgin HDPE), and translucent for turf. Custom OEM sizes, thicknesses, treads, colors, and embossed logos are available.
Do you offer OEM / ODM and custom branding?
Yes. We produce mats to your specification — size, thickness, color, tread pattern, connector system, and an embossed company logo — for branded rental fleets and special applications. We support the process from sample approval through full container production with consistent quality across the run.
What is the minimum order quantity?
We focus on bulk export orders, and a typical minimum is around one container, with mixed specifications possible. For exact MOQ, pricing, and mixed-load options for your project, send us an enquiry with the products and quantities you need.
Do you ship internationally, and how do mats pack?
Yes — we are an export manufacturer shipping to contractors and rental fleets across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. Mats stack flat and strap into dense, efficient loads, keeping freight cost per panel low for long-distance shipments. Tell us your destination port and we will advise loading quantities and logistics.
How are the mats installed and connected?
Lay panels directly on grade — no sub-base required. Connect them edge to edge with bolt-on link plates or cam/turn-lock couplers to form a continuous, shift-resistant roadway that stops mud pumping between panels. Standard mats are light enough for a two-person hand lift via moulded grips; large panels are placed by forklift.
Are the mats environmentally friendly?
Yes. The mats are reusable for years and fully recyclable at end of life. Our recycled-HDPE eco mat is moulded from 100% recycled black HDPE — the same strength as virgin mats with a markedly lower carbon footprint. Keeping plant off raw ground also reduces site remediation.
What quality certifications do you hold?
Our manufacturing runs to an ISO 9001 quality management system, and our products are offered with CE conformity. Certificate copies and product test information are available to buyers on request to support procurement and tender requirements.
How long do the mats last?
With basic cleaning and flat storage, quality HDPE mats give many years of service — typically 10–15 years on the heavy-duty and rig ranges — and remain recyclable at end of life. Corrosion- and rot-proof HDPE performs across a wide temperature band (roughly −50 °C to +60 °C on the rig range).
