Logging Mats: A Buyer's Guide for Soft and Wet Ground

What logging mats are for

Forestry ground is rarely firm. A cut block after rain, a bog crossing, or a stream buffer will swallow a loaded forwarder if there is nothing under the tyres, and reopening the same track for weeks of harvest turns soft ground into a rutted mess fast. Logging mats prices track three things: panel thickness, total footprint of the road, and how the mats are sourced. A short access track needs far fewer panels than a haul road running the length of a cut block, and a thicker, heavier-duty section costs more per panel but survives more relocations before it needs replacing. Building and moving the road
